We offer a range of products, produced as a consequence of our tree work operations.

Biomass

Biomass is plant or animal material used for energy production (electricity or heat). At Dryad we produce two grades of wood chip which is taken away on a weekly basis to a number of different power stations where it is incinerated to produce electricity.

Log Chip

All the large wood which is brought back to our yard is processed using our Valmet tractor and Heizohack Chipper. This chipper will process up to 500mm diameter timber. Timber larger than this is split using a Lasco cone splitter so that it can then also be processed.

The resulting product is a high grade G50 chip which is usable by many of the smaller power stations.

Arb Chip

This lower grade chip is produced on site as result of our tree surgery operations. As it contains both wood, twigs and leaves it is generally only used in large industrial power plants.

Mulch

Both of the above grades of chip can also be used as a mulch. As a renewable and environmentally friendly product it can be used in a variety of situations including shrub borders, tree planting, paths and woodland walks.

Mulch is beneficial to trees and shrubs for the following reasons

  • Suppresses weed growth
  • Soil de-compaction
  • Insulates the soil
  • Increases microbial activity
  • Reduces water loss
  • Increases aeration
  • Improves plant growth

We can also supply a variety of hard and soft wood timber for stepping stones, log edges, rustic seats, wood turning etc.
